Complaint against Mommy Works

Well, I filed my complaint against Mommy Works today with the Better Business bureau. I also posted a long rant about what a horrible company I think Mommy Works is and what a lousy person I think Lisa Nicholson, the owner of Mommy Works is on Craigslist.org under the childcare community in Orange County. This should be the link if you want to read it: http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/kid/91548151.html Hopefully the BBB gets me some of my money back and hopefully the rant costs Lisa some business. We can only hope.

If you are reading this blog and live in OC please do not use Mommy Works to find a nanny. It will just end up being a waste of your money. There are better, cheaper ways to find a good nanny.

Nanny Update

Most of you probably already know of my problems with nannies lately, but here is the quick story in case you don't. We started with Linda who was good with Sophia and a good cook - she worked for us for about 4 months and then had to leave to take care of a sick friend. We then hired Barbra who worked for one day and left when she claimed to have a brain tumor. The story was full of holes but the bottom line is that she only worked for one day leaving us to scramble to find care for Sophia. Now our current nanny is Natalia - she seems really nice, and most importantly seems to like Sophia (who doesn't) but language is a bit of a problem. So far she made it through the week so we are keeping our fingers crossed.

June 16, 2005

Just a quick update - We made our first trip back east last week. Everything went well - Sophia got to see a lot of new people including her great grandmother and great grandfather as well as all kinds of family an friends. Sophia was great on the trip sleeping and napping really well and she was great on the plane as well.

Now that we are back in Cali she is back on schedule like she never left.

Sophia is really making a lot of noise like she is trying to say something - mostly just comes out like "aaahhhh ahhhh aaahhhhh" but it is pretty amusing.

Sophia enjoying a nice rice cereal dinner. Posted by Hello

May 21, 2005

I have been wanting to start this blog for a long time (for the last 6 months at least) and finally decided to get it going. Mostly I want a way for my family and friends (especially the ones on the east coast) to keep up with our family. I'm guessing that most of the people will want to know what Sophia is up to so those will be the majority of the posts, but I will also use this blog to rant on other various subjects.

Sophia is 6 months old and really starting to do some things besides just laying on her back. She can now sit up on her own for a few minutes. She is starting to eat some solid food mostly rice cereal although we are trying to give her a few new things like mashed up bananas (which she hates - I will have to take some pictures to show the faces she makes). She is also getting good at using her hands she is very good at picking things up and can transfer things from hand to hand. She is not talking too much yet (by talking I mean babelling) but somethimes she does get going and it is pretty funny. My biggest goal is to make her laugh which is not too easy but it is great when I get her going.

I will try to post a few more photos and update this at least once a week (we'll see how that goes).

Feel free to send comments.

Later,
CP
